A culture bearer is an artist who embodies, preserves, and transmits their culture to others, linking past, current, and future generations.

I am a Cambodian-American culture bearer in the Bay Area. I am most actively teaching Khmer dance and music, but I also conduct traditional weddings and end-of-life ceremonies.

My dance programs:

I teach traditional Khmer dance every Sunday to students of all ages and backgrounds in San Jose at Olinder community center. As a dance teacher, I believe that everyone should be able to learn Cambodian folk and classical dances, regardless of age, gender identity, or "talent".

The history of Cambodian dance is a long one, and it is believed to be a very sacred tradition. I believe in an expanisve view of this sacrality, where dance inspires and is inspired by beauty and connection. Khmer classical and folk dances are simply Khmer sensibilities on what are universal needs for beauty, connection, and movement.
